AFR: Sky high: Walker Corp selects Bates Smart design for Parramatta tower
“Bates Smart has beaten three other architectural firms in a competition to design Walker Corp’s Aspire residential tower in Parramatta.
The planned 90-storey tower, the largest residential tower in NSW to date, is part of Walker Corp’s $2 billion Parramatta Square civic square redevelopment and will have an end value worth more than $700 million.
Bates Smart’s entry was chosen over those of Fender Katsalidis, DBI Design and PTW Architects by a jury comprising Parramatta City Architect Kim Crestani, NSW Government Architect Peter Poulet, Barangaroo design director Bob Nation, and Parramatta City Council’s director of property and significant assets Barry Mann.”
